We aim to offer our clients quality legal advice with a personal service at a fair cost. As a start, we hope it is helpful to you to set out in this statement the basis on which we will provide our professional services.
The working hours are Monday to Friday between 9.30 am to 5.30 pm. As many of my clients are abroad we offer a special out of hours service to tailor to their needs. We arrange conference calls and meetings out of office hours when this is necessary.
FEES RELATING TO YOUR MATTER
The charges are fixed and reflect the time spent dealing with a matter. Time spent on the matter may include: taking client’s instruction, perusing the documents, research, advising in conference, in writing or via email, correspondence; making and receiving calls.
Disbursements (for example, translation fees, courier, Home Office application fees, Counsel’s fees) are in addition to charges.
The rates are reviewed from time to time. We also reserve the right to review my charging rates if the matter proves to be more complex or urgent than originally anticipated; if the Instructions or the urgency of the matter require expertise or the specialist knowledge or the matter requires out of the office hours work. The client will be advised of any changes in advance.
All work is conducted on a private basis.
PAYMENT ON ACCOUNT
It is normal practice to ask for payments to be made on account towards our charges and expenses and to deliver a periodical bill. However, the initial preparatory work on client’s matter, and any associate disbursements we will initially request a payment on account which will offset against our charges for work performed on the matter.
If the matter does not proceed to conclusion, we reserve the right to charge for the work completed at an hourly rate specified in the Terms of Engagement plus disbursements and expenses. This will also apply for to matters concluded on a fixed fee arrangement.
